Position Overview:

Under direction from the VP, Research and Technology for NEC Energy Solutions, you will be part of a cross-functional group which develops concepts of power and energy solutions to a diverse set of challenging problems in the stationary, consumer, medical and industrial power markets. In this dynamic environment, you will work with application engineering and sales engineering to develop models of power grids, battery systems, and user loads, simulating their behavior and performance under working and adverse conditions. Multiple system aspects, such as the transmission, electrical, thermal, mechanical, electrochemical and operational are to be simulated to predict our product’s ability to fulfill goals desired by our customers and/or the market.


  • Interface with the NEC Energy Solutions sales team and/or customers to define system requirements
  • Develop system models of the customer’s loads and systems
  • Develop system models of NEC Energy Solutions batteries
  • Estimate performance and interactions between NEC Energy Solutions products and customer systems
  • Design, conduct and document lab and field experiments to validate models where possible
  • Interface with product development to propose product improvements and capabilities
  • Create technical presentations to support customer proposals
  • Participate in and/or host design reviews and presentations
  • Educate, guide, and train other employees on the use of the simulation tools
  • Train and supervise new employees and interns as required to perform similar job functions




  • Familiarity with battery and power systems is required
  • Experience using power systems modeling tools such as PSLF, PSS®E, Matlab/Simulink, DIgSilent, PSCAD® or others is required.
  • Experience with multiple electronic systems in grid utility market is preferred
    Excellent communication skills to present ideas to wide-ranging audience and customers


  • MS in EE, Controls, Power or Energy Systems, Physics · 5 to 10 years of experience in relevant technical roles
