Responsibilities

 Position Overview 
 

NEC Energy Solutions is seeking an experienced senior firmware engineer with a strong background in embedded control systems and C language programming to develop real time control firmware for grid scale and commercial energy storage systems. The ideal candidate will have a broad range of technical skills in addition to being organized, process oriented, and self-motivated.   He or she must have a solid understanding of; 16/32 bit microcontrollers, signal conditioning circuits, serial communication protocols, configuration management software and firmware development/debugging tools. The position requires fluency in assembly, C, C#, and Python programming languages.

To be an effective member of the NECES engineering team the candidate must have strong communications and interpersonal skills, a desire to work in a highly collaborative environment and the ability manage competing priorities.

Primary responsibilities

  • Develop new firmware and software designs that meet performance, safety, cost, and reliability goals
  • Present design concepts, engineering data, and substantiating technical analyses to project stakeholders
  • Create and maintain engineering specifications and documentation
  • Define firmware and software requirements that are well aligned with product specifications
  • Work in lab environment performing system integration and testing    

 

Qualifications

Specific Skills/Abilities

  • Experience with battery management systems technology is a plus
  • Programming firmware applications in constrained MCU environment
  • Ability to accurately plan and estimate firmware development projects
  • Development of C# software diagnostic tools
  • Demonstrated expertise in firmware configuration management, and the build/release process
  • Perform hardware/firmware integration testing using an oscilloscope
  • Superior analytical and problem solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

 

Education/Experience

  • BS/MS or advanced degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a closely related field
  • 10 or more years product development experience
