Responsibilities

 

This role is responsible for the development of the Remote Monitoring and Diagnostic center (NOC) for NEC Energy Solutions’ global install base. This position serves as the primary resource to optimize the interface and assist both customers and service team members to effectively identify and diagnose product and site issues. This position is also responsible for managing fleetwide data, generation of metrics and coordination of system requirements with our IT and Software teams.

 

Primary responsibilities

  • Monitor system performance, diagnose and triage systems remotely
  • Document remote support process and create strategy to expand with our increasing customer base
  • Monitor data communications network to ensure that networks are available to all system users
  • Perform administrative support for performance and monitoring of NOC system
  • Develop and follow remote troubleshooting procedures
  • Optimize event logic/alerts to minimize time to repair system
  • Perform customer training on how to run systems remotely
  • Provide pre-sales technical support during sales cycle for remote monitoring as a service offering
  • Provide requirements to software development for remote monitoring capabilities
  • Develop site performance dashboards and reporting for internal/external use
  • Analyze and mine operations data to identify patterns and correlations among the various data points.
  • Generate and provide fleetwide data to Sustaining Engineering to support identification of systemic issues
  • Design and create data reports to support business decision making
  • Create installed fleet performance metrics
  • Managing system trouble tickets identified through monitoring system to closure escalating to service team or engineering when necessary

The position requires

    • Experience in network infrastructure setting preferably configuring and supporting LAN, WAN technologies
    • Experienced in TCP/IP networking, especially routing and communications protocols such as CAN, Modbus, TCP/IP, DNP3
    • Working knowledge of database management
    • Ability to interface well with team members in a cross functional environment.
    • Must be able to perform duties with general direction, receiving only general guidance with respect to overall objectives.  Work is usually quite independent of other team members.

    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Experience with troubleshooting complex system-level software issues.
      Experience with computer network operating systems

 

 

Education/Experience/Work Environment

  • 5 + years direct exposure in related fields
  • B.S. in Data Science/Management, Engineering, Math and Statistics, Information Systems, Computer Science or related discipline
  • Willingness to travel, at times, 10% domestic and international
  • Flexibility with working overtime as needed and being on-call at off-hours a must.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and passport and be willing /able to drive and fly to field sites as needed.
