The Senior Sales Engineer (SE) supports sales productivity and deal flow by securing the “technical close” in complex solutions. The Senior Sales Engineer is responsible for supporting all phases of NEC Energy Solutions’ sales process, including but not limited to: opportunity qualification, reviewing and preparing comments on specifications and tender documents, responding to Requests For Proposal (RFP), proposal development, customer submittal preparation, providing equipment functionality and capability reports to the sales force and acting as technical liaison between the outside sales team, Applications Engineering, and Production. The Senior Sales Engineer must be able to establish and maintain strong relationships throughout the sales cycle. Must possess strong presentation skills and be able to communicate professionally in all forms of response. Must be organized and analytical, able to eliminate sales obstacles through creative and adaptive approaches.
Key Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Attitudes
The Senior Sales Engineer will need to manage all the technical aspects of the sales process. The candidate will work closely with the sales team to secure new business. The candidate will be expected to actively participate in day to day sales activities. As the technical liaison between the sales team and Applications Engineering, the candidate must bridge the gap between a successful commercial solution and a successful technical solution through diagnosis and resolution of technical issues. In order to thrive in this role, the candidate will bring a working knowledge of the electric power industry from both a products perspective and a customer requirements perspective.
This position requires overnight travel to customer and non-customer sites in North America, Europe and Asia (>25%).
